With over 37,000 students and more than 9,000 employees, the University of Copenhagen is the largest institution of research and education in the Nordic countries. The university offers more than 200 study programmes in health sciences, humanities, law, life sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, science, social sciences, and theology, including a number of programmes (BSc and PhD) that integrate sustainability issues.
The University of Copenhagen has a strong track record within climate and sustainability related research, education and public sector services. The research covers among others geophysics, marine biology, plant biology, economics, law and anthropology, and the university hosts world-class environments within several climate and sustainability related research areas.
Research in sustainability is coordinated in the ‘Sustainability Science Centre’, and climate research in the ‘Earth Science Centre’ and ‘Arctic Research Centre’. The cross-disciplinary group ‘Human Factors in Climate Change Processes’ is the humanities’ contribution to climate change research.
